Miguel Cabrera’s conversation during his 1st inning AB was with Josh Donaldson to ask why he wasn’t playing. Then Cabrera hilariously turned to Rocco Baldelli and asked him why Donaldson wasn’t paying & continued to ride Donaldson for a little longer. #MNTwins #Tigers #MLB

….#Tigers now 18-20, just 2GB Yankees for 8th playoff spot. Yankees have lost 13 of 18 after 16-6 start. Fulmer v. Pineda in finale on Labor Day – 2:10 start, on the air at 1:45pm…..f/

This was an impressive offensive display in 6th, 7th and 8th. #Tigers had scored 7R in 28 inn. in series…and were facing three of Twins best relievers in May, Duffey and Romo. In the 3 inn.: Tigers were 11-20 w/ 2dbl, triple and 2HR, scored 8R…..11/

….Alcantara is first to HR in first ML AB since….Daniel Norris (v. Lester) in 2015. First position player to do it since Reggie Sanders in 1974….10/

Before there the Lion King was lifted up to the sky, The Bird was lifted up at Tiger Stadium in ’76!

Highlight of the day came early – when Sergio Alcantara, who had a .297SLG at AA last year (.049 iso!), jumped on 2nd pitch he saw in first ML AB, and homered to LF. Of course he did… became just 8th player in Tigers history to HR in first ML AB….9/

Funkhouser gave up a run, but worked two key innings to get game to Bryan Garcia in the 9th. Garcia gave up a leadoff single, then got three easy outs for his first save….8/

…..in 8th – facing Romo, with tough shadows – Greiner hit FB to left field that tipped off the top of a leaping Rosario’s glove – his 3rd HR of the year gave #Tigers 8-7 lead. Reyes walk, Schoop triple and Miggy single added on two key runs to make it 10-7….7/

….Twins scored in bot. 6th to make it 7-5, then #Tigers tied it up in 7th on two big two-out hits: Candelario LD single to RF scored Schoop, then Castro – on 9th pitch of AB – ripped single to RF off Duffey to tie game, 7-7…..6/

….but Trevor May took over for Rich Hill to start 6th – and everything changed. Cabrera singled, then the impressive Willi Castro crushed May FB 409ft into upper deck in RF to cut Twins lead to 6-4….three batters later, Greiner made it 6-5 w/ RBI single to score Bonafacio. 5/

Everyone in the lineup joined the hit parade!#DetroitRoots

…after Mize left – Rony Garcia struggled: double, walk, walk, double, bounceout, single gave Twins a 6-2 lead….and with the way Twins had silenced Tigers bats all weekend, it wasn’t looking good….4/

….Mize flashed sharp cutter at times, but…
